FreightTech Startup
The World's Only Container Lines Aggregator
In early 2017, I launched AllContainerLines.com – the world’s first online aggregator of ocean freight rates directly from container lines. It worked like Skyscanner for ocean freight: users entered POL and POD, saw instant rates for 20’DC / 40’DC / 40’HC, and could book with one click. Unlike traditional freight forwarders, we offered no extra services – just raw port-to-port pricing, like the ocean carriers themselves.
Year :
2016 - 2018
Niche :
Freight Forwarding
Company :
AllContainerLines.com
Duration :
2 years

Problem :
Booking container freight was opaque, time-consuming, and relationship-based. Shippers had no easy way to compare rates across multiple carriers, and sales reps guarded pricing like a secret. This made procurement slow, inefficient, and resistant to automation.

Solution :
AllContainerLines.com gave instant price transparency – showing real-time ocean freight rates across multiple carriers in a single click. Within 2 months, the platform became the go-to rate-checker across Eastern Europe. We attracted 3,000 users and converted 30 into paying customers – a faster ramp than my prior freight business took in years.
We also raised $200K seed round at $2M valuation.

Challenge :
The product worked – but the industry pushed back:
– When our rates were higher, users simply left.
– When our rates were lower, users didn’t book – they complained to carriers, sparking backlash.
– Forwarders felt threatened and retaliated with disinformation campaigns.
Worse, customers demanded traditional freight services, turning a scalable SaaS-like model into an operationally heavy forwarding business. With no automation leverage, we built a costly “pyramid” team structure just to manage containers.
Ultimately, we weren’t selling software – we were selling freight, and the unit economics didn’t scale.
Summary :
– Built and launched the first-ever container line aggregator
– Reached 3,000 users in 2 months and validated strong demand
– Faced deep resistance from incumbents and high delivery costs
– Merged all customers into TELEPORT Logistics by early 2018
This project was a turning point. It proved that digital freight platforms could attract shippers at scale – but also taught me that without a tech-first backend, there’s no real efficiency gain. That lesson fueled my deeper commitment to building FreightTech from the inside out.
